Description:: Black and white photographs are mainly of the Hambleden Department of Anatomy built above the Chapel between 1931-1932 in memory of the 2nd Viscount Hambleden, William Frederick Danvers Smith, (1868-1928), who was a member of the College Delegacy a member of the King's College Hospital Committee of Management, taken by Humphrey & Vera Joel, Dryden Cottage, Radlett. Images include the Anatomy Laboratory; the Professor's Laboratory; Anatomy Lecture Theatre; Anatomy Museum; the Dissecting Room; Anatomy Preparation (embalming) Room; F corridor; tablet on the wall of the Hambleden Anatomy Department, commemorating William Frederick Danvers Smith, 2nd Viscount Hambleden.

King's College 7th December, 1858. Revd. Sir! I take the liberty to address this letter to you in order to call your kind attention to the following points. The Service of Her most gracious Majesty in the East is chiefly conducted by Natives. Experience has proved that the confidence necessarily placed in them on acct of [ie, on account of] the knowledge of the languages is not too well bestowed.
