King's College 7th December, 1858. Revd. Sir! I take the liberty to address this letter to you in order to call your kind attention to the following points. The Service of Her most gracious Majesty in the East is chiefly conducted by Natives. Experience has proved that the confidence necessarily placed in them on acct of [ie, on account of] the knowledge of the languages is not too well bestowed.
