Description (scope):: Illustrations of Strand site and surround, chiefly 1920s-1970s, including: copy of front cover of The Mirror, 15 Oct 1831, with drawing of the Strand gateway; copy of drawing of King's Building, 1833; shop fronts on the Strand, c 1925 (later replaced by the Strand Building); photographs of bomb damage in the quad, c 1940; excavations for the Wheatstone laboratories, c 1949; photograph captioned 'LCC Fire Station at King's College, World War Two'; the Strand Building under construction and completed, 1970s. Also London Transport double decker bus, with 'King's College Raleigh NC' [North Carolina] painted on the side.
