28 August 1914 March at 1am and I commanded rear guard of 1 Battalion Field Artillery, Royal Scots Fusiliers & Irish Horse. Not interfered with and no sign of the enemy. Reached HAM at 11am, rested & had food, left at 2pm. Marched to CRISSOLLES & went into billets.
