Apr 7th Inspected 2nd line in the afternoon & from a dilapidated cottage on a rise, got a good view of the enemies trenches & especially of the mound. Walked to Voormezeele in the evening & saw Head Quarters of 5th Fusiliers & Liverpool Scottish. Apr 8 & 9 Inspected the trenches on left and right of our line during the night - some of them were very wet and the ground between trenches and supports is covered with crump holes & pits from which sand bags had been filled - making an advance very difficult.
