Colonel (General) Macmahon of the 7th Fusiliers was near me & appeared to be urging forward men to the right side of me. About this time I picked up a rifle & bayonet from a dead German & advanced bayoneting a German soldier & forcing another to throw down his rifle. I was looking through the trees for any signs of hostile machine guns when I was hit. After being bound up by a Zouave & one of our men I walked back till I met the Commanding Officer.
