On arrival at Gurka position meet Colonel Norie who states he has only 200 men & 3 British officers left - he organized an attack which being badly led failed. Lieutenant Stuart wounded & missing. Conference of Commanding Officers & General Bowes at Farm House, decide to leave salient & fall back behind it - trenches made during night. Night attack. Nov 3 Quiet day trenches improved. Night attack on Connaught Rangers - reserves brought up etc etc
