[insert:2nd Corps 25.2.15 My dear Douglas Smith I saw the Army Commander this evening, and he spoke in the very highest praise of the 2 Brigades of this Corps which were detached from us. Speaking of yours, he said that General Balfin told him that he could not speak too highly of their appearance and good spirit, and of the complete confidence which they had restored. I am tremendously proud, as your old Corps Commander, to hear how well the credit of this Corps is being kept up, and I hope when you have an opportunity you will tell Commanding Officers that nothing could have more made up for
