I regret that I cannot leave you the signal section[?]. It is part of the DW [ie, Director of Works?] company and to let it go would be quite different from letter a brigade go. I am afraid you must manage without it. Keep it until Monday 22nd to help and send it back [illegible] as it will go to [illegible] on Tuesday when 7th Brigade will be relieved. I know you have great difficulties in front of you but I feel confident you and the 4 [illegible] battalions under you will overcome them. [illegible] was perhaps fortuitous as i hear the Brigade is only to be away temporarily so I hope [illegible] be so. Despatch with names is in Times [ie, printed in The Times, 18 Feb 1915]. Crichton has written down from home. [illegible] to see you soon.
Yrs,
A Haldane
