The firing continued through most of the night but we were not called in to assist. Very wet and cold. The other regiments must have spent a bad night in the open. 15 October 1914 Stood to arms at 5.30am, battalion still in reserve - the attack is resumed supported by artillery. The French cavalry are pressing round on the left flank. Very slow day for us. Billet at Vielle Chapelle, moved 16 October 1914 at 3am & relieved the Gordons in the trenches. Move in support of Lincolns in direction of CHEPIGNY & AUBERS, billet in Chepigny, very little resistance in front, but a few cavalry and a section of artillery can delay a force force [sic] for a few hours.
