In the mean time our 12 inch gun had gone South, so we had nothing to give them back. Finding this out (no doubt they started their shelling simply to find out if our gun was here or not) they fired over 100 shell into Poperinghe on the 11th & more on the 12th. On the latter day a shell burst in the square killed six & wounded more. On the 13th at about 5pm they began again & fired over 60 which were all "blind". The gun is a 5.2 high velocity and is fired from near Pilken . On the 13th I drove out to Bollizeele to see the training ground which had been purchased for drill purposes. It is quite a fair bit of ground about 3/4 miles square
