Finding this out (no doubt they started their shelling simply to find out if our gun was here or not) they fired over 100 shell into Poperinghe on the 11th & more on the 12th. On the latter day a shell burst in the square killed six & wounded more. On the 13th at about 5pm they began again & fired over 60 which were all "blind". The gun is a 5.2 high velocity and is fired from near Pilken . On the 13th I drove out to Bollizeele to see the training ground which had been purchased for drill purposes. It is quite a fair bit of ground about 3/4 miles square
