and [sic] the sun is shining again. I walked round one of our reserve lines today and a great part of it has been shelled and is too far gone to be reclaimed. Last night the division on our right found a white screen in no man's land, and on it was written by the Germans "The invincible fleet of the British has lost five dreadnoughts & fourteen battle ships. Hurrah! Hurrah!" This is what they have been told and of course believe. 17 June 1916 Move back to Poperinghe as the camp was too unhealthy. 18-21 June 1916 Still cold & very wet. With a view to deceiving the Germans & to conceal from them where the offensive is to be undertaken the Commander in Chief has ordered active operations in the shape of raids, bombardments & gas
