distinguished themselves in the capture of Longueval and had earned the praise of the brigade and divisional commanders. 10-15 August 1916 Fairly quiet on most of our front except for trench mortars. Rained on 13, 14 & 15 but not heavily. Farmers are just beginning to cut their crops. Guards Division to relieve us on the 16th & 17th and then I think the rest of the Corps come out and we all go further south. 16 August 1916 The 60th and 61st Brigades relieved by the Guards during daylight. Heavy rain during the day. 17 August 1916 Relief completed midday. Lunch at Doullens and arrive at Beauval at about 3pm: billet in a house in the main street.
