The great aim at present is to secure the ridge and so get observation into the valley west of Le Transloy. About six posts were established and these were strengthened & joined up during the night. 2 October 1916Raining hard since mid-day & very cold. Reinforcements are coming in regularly every day but officers seem to be scarce. Some of the units are receiving yeomanry and the Rifle Regiments have to take me from other infantry units. 3 October 1916 Corps Conference at 10am the various objectives were detailed for the operations of the 5th inst.
