I expect they have had enough of the shelling but they have stood it for a long time 21 September 1915 Heavy shelling on both sides for two or three hours daily 22-25 September 1915 As pre-arranged the enemies line from Bellwarde Farm to south of Menin Road was attacked Head Quarters 9th Brigade moved up to Maple Copse to as Battalion Head Quarters on night of 24th. The attack was made by 46th Division on the Bellewarde position, & by the 3rd Division from there on to the South. The 7th & 8th Brigades attacked with 9th Brigade less Royal Scots Fusiliers in Divisional Reserve. The Royal Scots Fusiliers attacked on the right of the 8th Brigade. At 3.50am the bombardment began and continued till 4.20am when the guns were ordered to lift gradually to the German second line
