5 February 1916 Visited the front line in the morning – there was very little shelling going on
6 February 1916 General Surtees commanding 52nd Brigade relieved me & the 19th Brigade go back to RENINGHELST for the night – relief completed by 1.30am.
7 February 1916 Two battalions marched to GODARESVELDE (about 8 miles) & entrain there. The other two to POPERINGHE. The former detrain at St OMER & have a march of 12 miles to their rest area. The two latter de train at [ANDRINCQ – crossed out] AUDRICQ. Brigade Head Quarters move with the former & ride to our new billets at MUNCQ-NEURLIET about 12 miles north west of St Omer. We are in a very nice house & the country round looks delightful. The troops are billeted chiefly in farms & are very scattered.
