are accustomed to holding them & it seemed to me that it would be practically impossible to get reinforcements up quickly enough in event of an attack – the Communication Trenches were so muddy & impeded rapid movement both sides seem very inactive – Bray itself had been shelled, but there were still civilians living there. We left again at 3.30 & got home about 8pm. The distance was about 90 miles each way. 5 March 1916 This Brigade moves up to the front tomorrow so our rest has come to an end. I think all ranks have benefitted by it greatly & a lot of useful work has been done. Two regiments moved to Reningheldst today & two tomorrow by route march & train 6 March 1916 Brigade moves to RENINGHELST
