I heard the bombardment starting at 5am and three mines were exploded at the same time. The 5th Fusiliers & 7th Fusiliers assaulted & carried the German trenches. It must have been a fine bit of work as the intervening bit of ground was very difficult owing to shell holes & other obstacles. I hear that they have maintained their position. The Germans did
