most of which were very slightly wounded 19 July 1915 Quiet day visited some of the trenches 20 July 1915 Take General Allenby (Commander of the Corps) round the trenches. left Head Quarters at 9.30am & returned at 3pm – very hot – and some of the trenches were still muddy. Flies in thousands. 21 July 1915 Germans shell Dickebusch in the evening, & knock down two or three houses. 23 July 1915 Helps takes a toss riding across country & breaks a bit of bone on the shoulder – has to go to hospital. Visit some of the trenches in afternoon. Heavy rain again 24 July 1915 The 4th & 5th Divisions have been ordered to join the 10th Corps & are leaving for the Somme so they say today.
