In the evening the Germans attacked Zouave Wood, & effected a lodgement but a counter attack was made, & they were driven out again. 31 July 1915 Germans began by shelling the Zouave Wood very heavily but our heavy Artillery replied and prevented an Infantry attack. Orders received that the 9th Brigade is to be relieved by the 52nd Brigade of the 17th Division on the night of the 1-2 August.
