very quiet there today – mud is awful up to ones knees in places – equipment lying all over the place and dead bodies here and there. 2-7 October 1915 Very quiet all along this front. Germans can be heard at work on their trenches. Rains most days – trenches in a terrible condition at Hooge 8-11 October 1915 Weather clear up a bit and we are able to do good work at Hooge – bodies are still being dug up. On the 11th Germans shelled fairly promiscuously (?) but did not do much damage On the 10th a 15" shell fell through a house in Ypres killed 2 wounded 6 Liverpool Scottish who were sitting round a table having tea. Rode to Ouderdom on the 11th to visit the camps. On September 25 the 3rd Division
