a company of 80 men composed of 20 from each battalion. I thought His Majesty was looking a little old, but he was very cheery, and chatted to officers to whom he was introduced. 28 October 1915 I apply for 7 days leave to England and start tomorrow Friday. 29 October 1915 Leave by motor at 7am and arrive at Boulogne at 9.30am. reach London 3.30pm. Kathleen meets me. 30 October- 5 NovemberIn England 5 November 1915 Leave Gosport at 8.40am reaching Boulogne at 5.30pm. Car meets me and I get to our Head Quarters at 9.30pm. [Owing to – crossed out] During my absence our billets are changed to WENIZEELE. 7 November 1915 Beautiful day – ride over to Steenboorde to see finals of a football match. General Haldane told me that we are to stay out another fortnight.
