The Battalion was ordered to clear the enemy out of village with the Lincolns assisting on the right. Early in the day the 5th Dragoon Guards charged the bridge which had been barricaded. Several casualties amongst the cavalry – they were unable to clear the village and applied for infantry. A Company I took up the centre, and worked round the left with C & D, with B Company in reserve. We found village deserted & no Germans. Marched to BRENELLE and arrived just before dusk. Detailed for outposts. A miserable cold wet night & everyone wet through.
