series was a test of rapid throwing combined with accuracy - some men threw 20 grenades in a minute (which was the time limit) into a rectangle representing a trench placed 30 yds from the thrower - this competition was won by the Royal Fusiliers - these competition have improved the standard of throwing & established a rivalry between the battalions. 1 March 1916 Went to see the Major General to talk over an enterprise which the 9th Brigade is to undertake when it returns to the trenches 2 March 1916 The 76 Brigade (which has been lent to the 17th Division this morning attacked the Germans on the Bluff (north of the Ypres Commines Canal). At 4.30am - & retook all the trenches which the 17th Division lost about ten days ago
