We also had a Motor Machine Gun battery of six guns flanking the German position from the Menin Road. The 7th Brigade lost about 50 officers & 1200 other ranks. As an operation it was not a success [in that - crossed out] the third & final objective was not captured - in my opinion had the 7th Brigade remained in reserve & not joined in the attack before they received orders, we should have taken this position.
