I visited the left section twice or three times in the afternoon, and the trenches still want a lot of work - some of them have no parados and the traverses (?) are not sufficient, but the regiments are working hard at them and they will improve. The 18th French Division is on our left and they seem to be good troops. General Bulfin has instructed me to strengthen the point of junction between our troops and the French as that is the point the Germans rather favour. On the night of the 21st the 15th Brigade relieves us & we go back for a rest. The relief is completed by 12.30am
