reverse, but quite a local affair, & as long as we did not let get any further there is not much damage done: during the British counter attack there were very heavy casualties. Our casualties have averaged about 15 killed & wounded a day, until yesterday when the Germans found (?) a new gun position whence they shelled one of our trenches from a flank with a howitzer and accounted for about 25 men; about 50 of these shells fell accurately on the trench in 50 minutes. April 2nd The relief begins tonight when the 85th Brigade send over two battalions to relieve two of our battalions in the fire trenches
