transferred to the [inserted: KEMMEL] Chateau which is shared by the Royal Artillery. This is a very fine house with pretty grounds & a moat. The house has been shelled once some time ago but very little damage was done - the owners are in England & have left furniture, carpets, china and some very nice old prints - walk over to Vierstaat to see General Bowes who I found in a very well built dug out which had been made by the French the farm house close to it has been so often shelled that he does not stay in it .Jan 10 A quantity of material is being collected for use in
