chateau & burst. Many of the pieces came through the windows and two men were wounded. My gum boots which were in the kitchen at the time were punctured in four places. Brigadier General Travers & Captain Morgan Owen his brigade major both of the new army were attached to us for four days to find out how things were done. They were taken round the trenches one night. 7th Brigade relieve us on the 5th. I picked up a piece of shell yesterday which had been fired from German guns. It was evidently a piece of a new shell quite lately manufactured. Total casualties for the four days 14 killed 54 wounded
