1.30pm with 4 battalions and arrive at YPRES at 5pm. The battalions marched very well considering all the work they had done in the trenches. Three regiments billeted in the infantry barracks & one in the cavalry barracks. The town Commandante [sic] a Colonel Humphreys puts me up. Visit General Bulfin Commanding the 29th Division from whom I receive orders to take up a position on the north bank of the canal to prevent a German advance & to support the 85th Brigade - two battalions to take up this position and two others to remain at Ypres.
