knocked about one or two of them had to be vacated by day in consequence, & rebuilt at night. Things not going very smoothly on the left of the 27th Division which is on our right. The Germans are reported to be sapping very close up to one of their trenches; on the night of the 28th the Canadians of this division captured a trench destroyed it and then came back losing about 30 men. A night or two after that another attack on a parallel was undertaken it was preceded by an artillery bombardment, & the 4th King's Royal Rifles then charge in & took the parallel; they remained in the trench &
