on whether we could assemble our troops on the far bank during the night without interference from the enemy. Au Bon Gite looked right down on the stream & the garrison were continually sending up Verey lights & firing their machine guns. However a tape was laid on which the troops were to form up and the assembly took place quietly & successfully, so that at zero hour on the 16th the assaulting troops were ready to move. The 59th Brigade left their posts out during the night & under cover of these the battalions of the 60th & 61st brigades formed up. This assembly was wonderfully well carried out.
