Two Victoria Crosses were rewarded for the attack on Langemarck, one to a private of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry & another to a sergeant of the 12 Rifle Brigade. The latter had advanced over the open for about 250 yards with only 4 or 5 men & captured a concrete dug out, taking 30 to 40 prisoners & machine guns. About 200 immediate rewards were given for the operations from 14th – 16th. 19 August - 11 September 1917 Divisional training in the PROVEN area.
