The operations were to take place on the 20th so there was little time to train the troops in tank tactics, especially difficult for us as our division was the only one of the four holding the line. The 55th Division of the 7th Corps on the right of the 3rd Corps was not advancing. Infantry Battalions were pulled out of the line & sent back to Braye for one day to see the tanks working & train with them, but not much could be done in that short time. We managed to get all the battalions of the 60th & 61st Brigades out in turn, having to thin our line pretty considerably to do it. The attack was to be made in the following order: 12th Division on the right from the Banteux Canal to west of La Vacquerie, the 20th Division in the centre from La Vacquerie
