of the 91st Brigade Royal Artillery were captured but not before they had fired many rounds at point blank range at the advancing Germans. It was most unfortunate that the Reserve Brigade was not available & I feel sure we could have recaptured the guns & might have driven back the enemy from Bonavis & Lateau Wood. Reports grew worse as the day went on. The Somersets & King's were reported to have been nearly all either killed or captured & other units had suffered but troops were rallied on the Hindenburg Line by General Banbury & other & the Germans could not advance farther at that point.
