I occupied as a child in my old home there was an old print of the battle of Jersey inscribed 'the death of Major Peirson', that gallant officer being depicted in the centre of the picture, so his bravery was impressed in my mind at an early date.
I trust you are thoroughly happy in Jersey and keeping fit. I concluded my service in Gibraltar last Sept, a very pleasant but rather ruinous 5 years, as entertaining never ceased & to give my finances a chance of stabilising, my wife & I are living here & very jolly it is.
With kindest remembrance,
Yours sincerely
