without being shelled although the ground is completely overlooked from German baloons [sic]. This could not happen in the Ypres Salient. The Bosche activity seems quite different here. Weather fine & quite warm. 21-23 July 1916 It was at first decided by General Head Quarters that we were to relieve the 14th Corps & join another in the 4th Army but I am glad to say that has now been cancelled. The Corps Commander looked in today & gave me the good news. He was very pleased about it as he will get his three Divisions under him again. I have to leave my divisional artillery behind which is a sad blow as they are very efficient and our infantry having got to know them have the greatest confidence in them. The reason
