on our front, but heavy firing in the Pozieres direction. Colonel Banbury who commanded a battalion of the Sherwood Foresters & was at one time attached to my old Brigade took over the 61st Brigade today vacated by General Sweny. 29 July 1916 Relief completed & I took over command of the line at 10am. My Headquarters are at Couin in a chateau situated in a beautiful park. Our line is over 5,000 yards long & the front trenches have been badly damaged & mostly have to be rebuilt. I had put three brigades in the line in order to get the work done. The three Brigade Headquarters are at Sailly, Courcelles & Mailly-Maillet. All these villages have been shelled but I
