18-19 August 1916 Brigades move south, one [Brigade] at Beauval. Drive to Toutencourt to see demonstration of flame projectors etc. The small flamenwerfer can be worked by two men & throws a flame about 40 yards useful for village and wood fighting. Others much larger will throw a ton or more of oil. These are laid in mine galleries & fired close to the enemy trenches. Receive orders to take over from the 24th Division commanded by General Capper. His division is in the Guillemont front. 20-21 August 1916 Relief takes place on 21st with two brigades in the line ordered to attack Guillemont on the 24th.
