on ten days leave to England. Arrive at Boulogne 11am boat sails at 1.30pm. General Banbury commands in my absence 17-24 October 1916 In England 25 October 1916 Leave Charing Cross 7.50am and arrive at Bellois-Sur-Somme at 4.30pm. Rough Channel crossing. 26-30 October 1916 Cold and wet. Rains every day with high wind. 31 October 1916 Motored to 14th Corps Headquarters. Very little progress seems to have been made since the 20th Division left the line & we are no nearer the Le Transloy line. I was told that we were to remain with the 14th Corps. The 6th Division have gone to Bethune and their place has been taken by the 29th Division. 1 November 1916 Moved to Cavillion. The brigades are all billeted south of the Somme. Inspected two brigades
