26 December 1915 A Xmas tree was seen in one of the German trenches – it was fired at & was taken away. The two 6" Howitzers near our Head Quarters had a bad time today – the Germans were able to observe their position as the day was very clear & they put about 50 shell (5.9) all round the guns but only wounded two men. 27 December 1915 Quiet day 28 December 1915 Relieved by 9th Brigade 29 December 1915-4 January 1916Very wet during the week New Year's Day was observed as a holiday. Relieve 8th Brigade in the trenches 5 January 1916 Visit P & Q trenches with General Soady who has come out from England for three days. Very quiet trenches improved. Two officers Royal Fusiliers were killed in a Communication Trench yesterday by a direct hit from a light field gun
