The party got back to our own trench without any casualties. 29 January 1916 Went to the cinema which was a good entertainment & very amusing 30 January 1916 Much colder & a thick fog hung round most of the day 31 January 1916 Still cold but no frost – our casualties for the month of January is as follows:- Officers: killed 4, wounded 5 Other ranks: [killed] 13, [wounded] 66 Brigade strength officers: 108 Other ranks: 3484 1-4 February 1916 Took over from 8th Brigade. Fairly quiet along the line – dry during day but rains at night. Information received on the 3rd that the 17th Division is to relieve us next week. The relief comes three weeks before we expected it. this is the Division which relieved us in the HOOGE sector on October 1915 22
