26 February 1916 Not so cold, two or three snow showers during the day 27 February 1916 Thaw has set in & it has become mild again. Motored over to St Omer & lunched with Trenchard – took me over some of the aerodromes after. They are arranging to place the observer facing the propeller now so that he can fire his gun without being impeded – this is the arrangement the Germans have in their Fokker. 28 February 1916 The 8th Brigade moved up to Poperinghe today in Corps reserve. I expect we shall get our marching orders on Sunday. 29 February 1916 Battalions in this brigade have been ordered to classify their men in grenade throwing & I have decided on the following classifications with Mills grenade 1st class over 40 yards throw 2nd " between 35 & 40 "
