Craters A B & C are held by Germans. They must have returned to their line on finding that the gap between Royal Fusiliers & 5th Fusiliers was not held. Quite warm today & more like summer Inspected camps & the Divisional rest hutments. 2-7 April 1916 Canadians who have relieved the 3rd Division at St Eloi on their second night lost a portion of the trenches. Ammunition is getting scarcer than ever – apparently there is plenty in England but there are not enough ships to bring it over. The allowance for one division for one day (weekly?) has been reduced to 18 pounder shrapnel 280 rounds. This is almost as bad as it was in the old days. It is impossible with this allowance to damage
