one of our windows during dinner but did no damage. Rode round the various camps in the afternoon. 15 June 1915 3rd Division ordered to attack the German trenches on the BELLEWARDE ridge. The 9th Brigade has been resting for nine days so were very fit & cheerful, & pleased to hear they were going for the Germans. Assembly trenches had been prepared behind our own firing line & on the night of the 15th the Brigade moved out of billets to occupy these trenches. It was arranged that the 9th Brigade would carry out the attack supported by the 7th Brigade, while the 9th Brigade held our trenches. I issued orders for three battalions the Royal Fusiliers, Royal Scots Fusiliers & 5th Fusiliers to be in the front line with Lincolns &
