17-21 June 1915 Brigade is resting & reorganizing Army Corps Commanders visited camp to congratulate [in pencil in left margin: Allenby] the men & officers 22 June 1915An attack was made at 8pm on the enemy's work just north of HOOGE by a regiment of the 7th Brigade & on the north of Railway Wood by the 46th Brigade – both attacks failed it was said that the artillery preparation which lasted half an hour was not effective. Casualties not very heavy. 23 June 1915 The Lincolns & Royal Fusiliers have been attached to the 7th Brigade & hold a portion of the line – the other regiments are still without officers & cannot go into the trenches 24 June 1915 General Haldane goes on leave and I take over command of the Division during his absence.
