The trench howitzer batteries have been ordered not to fire until further orders. Scarcity of ammunition again. In the meantime whilst we are waiting for ammunition, the Huns get time to strengthen their works, & make it all the more difficult if we resume the offensive later on. The field guns & howitzers are still limited to two or three rounds per gun per diem, unless anything unforeseen [arrives – crossed out] arises, such as an attack on our trenches by the enemy. The casualties of the Division average about 15 killed & 15 wounded daily which is very small for Ypres salient
