The 5th Corps now consists of the 3rd Division, the 14th & 46th Divisions. Sir Herbert Plumer commands the 2nd Army & General Allenby the 5th Corps. This Division is holding a very small front now only three battalions being in the line. The 9th Brigade is gradually filling up, but the shortage of experienced officers is their difficulty - nothing but very young officers are arriving from home, & they have to learn their work by experience 1 July 1915 General Haldane returned this evening & resumed Command of the 3rd Division 2 July 1915 Apply for three days leave to England which is granted. If all is well I shall leave here on July 4th. The weather is grilling, & a little rain would be a blessing. The Brigade is now in camp quite close to its units.
