Our Anti Air Craft guns get knocked out if they venture too close to the firing line and owing to the advantage of position German guns can shell our aeroplanes and prevent them from flying over their lines. The Germans had five balloons up observing 21 August 1915 Walked round the second line nearby shelling most of the day on our gun positions – one gun knocked out & a wagon blown up. The trenches are quite good – narrow and well built, very little sniping. We have about six casualties a day. 22 August 1915 visit trenches of 7th Fusiliers – Germans bombed gun position in evening. 23 August 1915 At 4 am Germans began shelling our gun positions.
